Every lipstick shade has many variants. And choosing the right variant for yourself depends on your undertone. Now, some of you already know your undertone, and can skip this section, but for the rest, here’s a quick guide to determine your undertone.
Look at your veins under natural light and determine their color. If they look green, your undertone is warm, lipstick shades with reds and oranges as base pigments will suit you best. If they look blue, lipstick shades with purple and blue as base pigments will suit you best. And lastly, if you can’t really tell if they’re green or blue, you’re super, super lucky – your undertone is neutral and pretty much any shade with a base pigment will suit you.
What does long sun exposure do to your skin? If your skin burns and peels, your undertone is cool, and if it just tans, your undertone is warm.
WHATEVER SUITS YOU!
There all kinds of lip types. If you’re someone whose lips dry up super quick, be careful of liquid and matte lipsticks. And if you find one that you absolutely adore, ensure you wear lip balm like a mask, leave it on for at least 5-10 mins, remove the excess and then apply your lippie! For you, a non-drying formulation will obviously work best! If you have a super oily T-zone (forehead, nose and chin) your upper lip may tend to break into sweat during the course of the day. Here, creamy lipsticks will not help, since they will aggravate the sweating. But again, if you love a shade that’s in gloss or creamy format, blotch it with translucent powder once you apply it. It’ll mattify the color a bit and also take away the excess oiliness.
